Cabriel Train

The waters of the Cabriel River have sculpted throughout history part of the Valencian geography, forming an ecosystem of special interest and beauty. They favored the appearance of populations that took advantage of their life to create their own, generating culture, uses and customs that always revolved around the river. Numerous waterwheels flourished from its banks, to harness its power for irrigation and daily uses. In Casas del Río we have the only living example in the Valencian Community that shows us this reality.

The Cabriel Train is a guided route dedicated to the Cabriel River, allowing its passengers to enter a unique ecosystem. The Cabriel can boast of being one of the rivers with the highest water quality in Europe, due to the significant depopulation of its basin and the lack of activities that may impact it.

The guided route starts at the Hervideros de Cofrentes Spa, bordering the banks of the Cabriel, we will reach the town of Casas del Río, a small village that we can visit until we get to know the old wooden waterwheel of the eighteenth century, restored in 1991. This waterwheel is currently the only one in operation in the Valencian Community, allowing the irrigation of the village’s vegetable garden and the maintenance of the old washing place.

It has a maximum capacity of 56 seats split between 2 carriages. Its large windows will let you enjoy the whole journey in a comfortable and fun way. Just sit back and enjoy!
